Our Tripaw Bella

A new Tripaw

Filed under: Uncategorized — tribella at 2:16 am on Thursday, August 22, 2019

For a long time this past Sunday I was afraid I was going to die the pain was so bad.   My family was so upset and my brother (Rocko) I could hear him barking in the house.  I was so upset everyone was crying but the pain was so bad I couldn’t make them feel better.  . Lucky for us we found a great vet who agreed to meet us at the Veterinarian. I have always been known to run out the door if I saw a smidge of day light crack through. The family always told me not to but I can’t help it I know there was a squirrel out there.  Then their fear was realized out the door I went. I never saw the  car. While we know it was an accident him stopping would have been nice but he didn’t.  We rushed to a near by town and found out that I  had shattered my right rear leg to the point that a plate would need to be placed to HOPEFULLY hold it together, however I had also dislocated the hip so bad that pins wouldn’t even hold it. I had to have an amputation. I don’t remember much after getting to the hospital I got really sleepy.
They say I am  healing well but I am new to this whole three legged thing.  I just had surgery on Monday the 19th.  I want to jump and play but I am still kind of sore so my two legged people won’t let me.  I am going home tomorrow and that makes my tail wag and makes me happy.

Just as happy as when I saw one of my family today.  We make each other so happy.  I can feel when he (they call him Alex) and the bossman (they call him Mike)are very anxious and upset.  I don’t like when they are like that so I cuddle with them and this makes them sooo happy.  My real owner (Trinity) is very nice and she loves to cuddle even without having bad feelings, she just wants to cuddle and play.  I was her Christmas present, she squealed she was so happy.  My mommy (Kathi) doesn’t know it but we cuddle at night.  We also take very long walks.  I like long walks.  I like to play with my whole family.  They throw my toys and I go get them for them.  It is so fun.  My brother and I wrestle too but that will have to wait for a while.

Well that is my story so stay tuned as I learn to be a tripaw.  I know I need to take it slow but let’s see what kind of mischief I can still get into.  Rocko and I will have some stories I am sure.

Hi Bella and pack, welcome.
I’m sorry to hear about the accident- that must have been very scary. When I was a kid we had a dog that bolted every time the door was open. Lucky for us we lived in a new neighborhood on the edge of town so there wasn’t much traffic.
My current Tripawd is a little Pug mix named Elly. She was hit by a car when she was 7 months old and lost her right rear leg as a result. Elly is now 4.5 years old and can do just about anything a dog her size and age can do. Because she does tend to bolt I have worked hard at training her to not go through doors or gates unless I tell her she can. It works pretty well but if there is a C.A.T. in her line of sight all bets are off!
I see you posted in the forums- you should get more feedback there.
I hope Bella’s recovery is smooth!

Awww sweetie, I’m so glad you made it through that awful accident! It’s hard to be a dog sometimes.

You are surrounded by pawsome people who will spoil you even more now that you’re on three legs. And you just let us know how we can help OK? Keep us posted on your recovery.

Spoiled is an understatement Jerry, I am getting so spoiled I am gonna Rot. Lol. Karen and Elly I tend to like the squirrels better. I am learning the word….stay…but I am having a hard time not taking my long walks. My Mom won’t let me go past the yard. Thanks for the great comments. I am getting stronger everyday so one day I will be ready to play fetch again.
